Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins from Jose Mourinho last December, the emphasis at Manchester United has been about giving the club’s abundance of youth talents a chance.
The likes of Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes, amongst others, have been given their opportunity to shine over the past few months, and it appears another academy product has been rewarded for his emergence onto the scene.
Brandon Williams completed his first full 90 minutes when he played against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League earlier this season, and Solskjaer hailed his “top class” performance.
Now, reports have confirmed the 19-year-old has signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, with his new deal taking his potential stay at the club until the summer of 2022.
After hearing the contract news, many supporters of the Manchester side slammed the decision to hand Williams a new contract, with one fan in particular suggesting it is a “tale of mediocrity”.
