It’s a steal, it’s a deal, its the sale of the frickin century…and that’s just Van Der Vaart!
So the new messiah has arrived to strut his stuff at The Lane and what a snip he is looking to be at 8mill. The experienced, talismanic Dutchman has certainly arrived in England with the bit between his teeth and a point to prove. So the question I ask: is there any more where that came from?
Next to be thrown out of the Real Madrid talent dustbin are Karim Benzema and Kaka. Competition will surely be a lot fiercer for these two and while targeting the latter may be a tad unrealistic for Spurs the club may well challenge for the signature of Benzema.
In order to accommodate Van Der Vaart and really get the best out of him all the pointers are that the preferred Spurs formation will change to a 4-5-1 with Rafa floating behind a lone striker generally causing mischief wherever he goes.
That lone striker role is a demanding one that requires strength, pace, mobility and vision. Attributes that collectively the current crop of Spurs strikers possess in abundance but individually no one player can boast all of these particular assets. Benzema has all of the aforementioned qualities and should he arrive at the Lane with the same appetite for the game as his former team-mate, then the striker could prove another extremely astute acquisition in the clubs continuous efforts to improve.
