The former Newcastle United player was signed on loan from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli last summer, with Mourinho counting on him during the first half of the campaign. However, Saint-Maximin wasn't named in three of the last four Fenerbahce matchday squads. The latest omission, ahead of the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 against Rangers, came on the Frenchman's 28th birthday on Wednesday. Rangers won the first leg 3-1 at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, with Saint-Maximin brought off the bench in the second half.
WHAT ALLAN SAINT-MAXIMIN SAID
“It will take more than that to bring me down…When lies take the elevator, truth takes the stairs; it takes longer but it always arrives in the end. If God is with us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31,” Saint-Maximin posted on Instagram (h/t Sport Witness).
