Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has hinted that a new signing is imminent following a less than cryptic Twitter post on Friday morning.
The emoji of a hand signing something and another of clapping hands suggest that the club’s first deal of the summer is close to completion, with free agent John Terry suggested to be the man heading to Villa Park in recent days.
Steve Bruce has been interested in bringing the 36-year-old to the Championship outfit ever since it was announced that Chelsea were releasing their captain towards the end of last season, and he looks to be closing in on his man.
The Daily Star suggested on Thursday that Terry was promised that he would be in pole position to succeed Bruce in the future, which may have persuaded him to move to the Midlands outfit.
Aston Villa supporters were quick to react to their owner’s tweet via social media, and while many suspect that Terry is the man that is set to join, others were imagining that it could be another player, while some just want to find out who it is now.
