Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to discuss what they’d like to do with Max Meyer, amidst a period of difficulty for the midfielder at Selhurst Park.Since arriving on a free transfer having left Schalke last summer, the Germany international has struggled for game time under Roy Hodgson.Meyer has been a peripheral figure amongst the starting XI, making only 17 Premier League starts while scoring just once and assisting twice in England’s top-flight.Additionally, while he may appear to have been a cheap capture on a free transfer, the 24-year-old is the second highest earner at the south London club – Meyer’s salary of £125k-a-week is second only to Wilfried Zaha, who earns £130k-a-week.It is clear that the diminutive midfielder isn’t a favourite under Hodgson, and given his fairly young age and decent pedigree, it feels like a sensible assumption to make that he would still be worth a decent amount in the transfer market. However, some Palace fans on Twitter seemingly want a sale to happen, with one fan below stating that, given his high wages, Meyer is “simply not worth keeping” at the club.Another fan below that particular supporter also said that the German should be let go, as all the south Londoners are doing is “stalling his career”.
Another simply just said “sell him” in response to the question.
On the flip side, other Palace supporters want to see the Eagles No.7 be handed game time.
This specific fan said that Meyer is the “classiest midfielder in the squad” and that the former Schalke man should be one of the first names on Hodgson’s teamsheet – it really does seem like the supporters on Twitter aren’t entirely in agreement with what to do in regards to the divisive figure.
