Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier captained the Ivory Coast to a 2-1 victory over Rwanda in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday but received a mixed response from the Spurs faithful.
The 25-year-old full back played the full 90 minutes of the match, and helped guide his nation to their first victory in the qualification group stage.
Aurier has started just one Premier League match under Mauricio Pochettino so far this season, making one further appearance off the bench in Tottenham’s 3-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford in August.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender has represented the Ivory Coast 48 times since making his debut for his nation in 2013, and was an integral part of the squad that won the African Cup of Nations in 2015.
Tottenham fans are yet to see Aurier’s full potential for the Lilywhites, as the full back has made just 18 Premier League appearances since joining the club in August 2017.
But, it hasn’t stopped the Spurs fan base taking to Twitter to share their view on Aurier’s captaincy of Ivory Coast.
